Sanglah General Hospital in Denpasar is developing an integrated cardiovascular service as its latest health service for the people of Bali. “We are preparing and hopefully by the end of the first semester we will start,” Sanglah hospital’s director of nursing and medical services, Anak Agung Ngurah Jaya Kusuma, said on Saturday, as quoted by Antara news agency.
The cardiovascular unit is to start accepting patients in April, or at the latest June, this year. The unit will consist of a clinic, a 20-room intensive care unit, an operating theater, and have a helicopter landing pad available. “Before we start the unit, we plan to try out the helicopter landing area, which will be located next to the emergency unit,” he said. It is estimated that around 3 percent of the population in Bali are suffering from coronary heart disease.
