Four Arrested In Foiled Attempt to Smuggle 2.5 Kilograms of Methamphetamines into Bali
Junaidi bin Ali Kanino (40) has been arrested by customs officials at Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport caught trying to illegally import 2.5 kilograms of methamphetamines into Indonesia. Authorities withheld releasing information on the man’s arrest for several days, permitting police the opportunity to first track down three woman believed to have employed Kanino as a drug courier. According to Beritabali.com, Kanino was arrested shortly after he disembarked Malaysian Airlines (MH-715) from Kuala Lumpur.
Made Wijaya, the head of Ngurah Rai’s Customs Office, said: “The contraband came form Nepal. The suspect is a couriers and all costs – including transportation and accommodation while he sought the narcotics in Nepal were provided for by his controllers.” When officers inspected the man and his luggage they found 2.5 kilograms of methamphetamines.
Police have now taken three women into custody who are believed to have been the masterminds behind the smuggling attempt. All four are undergoing intensive interrogation by police.
