0 Your letters: Publish Soedjati’s articles

I had been away from The Jakarta Post and only read it when I visited my head office on certain days. And I didn’t see the edition that carried the article titled, “’Pak Soedjati: A beacon of light on dark truths” on Jan. 11. Sadly, I didn’t know about it until I read a comment printed in the Readers’ Forum on Jan. 17 regarding the death of this great soul. I tried to find a copy but to no avail.

What saddened me was that I didn’t do anything when his name came to mind. Therefore I would like to thank Helena Nursanti for writing to this newspaper regarding the news of her great uncle. I wouldn’t have known about it if I hadn’t read her comment. I regret not doing anything when his name crossed my mind a few months before his death, for it happened more than once.

I am writing to appeal to this newspaper to have Pak Soedjati Djiwandono’s pieces compiled and published in the form of a book. I think what he wrote in this newspaper during his period of active contribution are still relevant today. I admire not only what he wrote but also the way he put it onto paper with his mighty pen. May God appreciate Pak Soedjati’s service and allow him to serve Him personally as he did with his pen when he was with us.
