State-owned Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan officially inaugurated PT Semen Gresik under its new name, PT Semen Indonesia, on Monday. The inauguration ceremony, attended by PT Semen Indonesia vice president Dwi Soetjipto, was held at the Grand City Convex in Surabaya, East Java. PT Semen Indonesia is currently both a cement producer and a holding company for state cement companies PT Semen Padang and PT Semen Tonasa. It holds the largest chunk of the nation’s cement market with a 41 percent market share, followed by PT Indocement Tunggal Perkasa and PT Holcim Indonesia. “We must become a regional champion. This company should become Indonesia’s pride abroad,” Dahlan said during his speech at the ceremony. PT Semen Indonesia is expected to increase its production from 22.6 million tons in 2012 to 26 million tons this year. (tgh)
