0 Police suspect assault in homicide case

The police said on Wednesday that they were still looking for witnesses and evidence that might lead them to the attackers of a couple in Pluit, North Jakarta, late on Tuesday. The residents found a dead man and an injured woman in the area. 

The man, identified as Yanto, 20, was stabbed in the back. From their wounds, the police suspect they had been attacked by more than one person. “The residents found the man dead. No witnesses have come forward and no evidence was left at the crime scene,” Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto told reporters. He said the police would wait for the woman, identified as Ipit, 20, to be declared fit before taking her statement to the police. She is currently being treated at the Atmajaya Hospital in North Jakarta.
