The Naval Academy awarded 174 scholarships to children of Navy officers. The scholarships were handed out by the Director of Marine Navy, Sihar Simanulang, in Surabaya, East Java, on Friday. The 174 scholarship recipients comprised 23 university students, 40 high school students, 21 junior high school students and 90 elementary school students. Naval Governor Rear Admiral Herry Setianegara said education is important for the development of a nation. 
“Educational institutes should look into the growth and development of its students. In addition, educational institutes should be well-managed,” he said. The government is keen on providing quality education for the development of the nation, Antara news agency reported. “The Navy agrees with the government that quality education should be given to children, which is the reason why the Navy has provided scholarships to children of Navy officers. Scholarships are awarded to smart children,” he said.
