Heavy rain that poured on Sunday morning led to up to 50-centimeters of water along Jl. Daan Mogot in West Jakarta, severely slowing down traffic in both directions. The worst inundation point was a 100-meter-long section of the road located near the police’s Integrated Administration Service (Samsat).
The police ordered motorists to avoid the road and take alternative routes after a number of vehicles broke down trying to travel along the road. The flooding along Jl. Daan Mogot also slowed down Transjakarta buses plying the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route Corridor 3 from Kali Deres to Harmoni as buses had to share their usually exclusive lane with other vehicles. The flooding began at around 7 a.m. and lasted until late in the afternoon. Similar flooding also hit Jl. Gunung Sahari in Central Jakarta near the Mangga Dua trade center. Traffic became deadlocked as motorcycle riders were forced to stop their vehicles.
