0 New Year sees lavish celebrations

No plans for New Year’s Eve? Hotels and entertainment spots in Bali are offering lots of New Year celebrations. Here are some suggestions to ring in that special moment while in Bali. Celebrating the arrival of 2013 and the end of 2012, four-star hotel Grand Istana Rama in Kuta has prepared a range of special programs. “Starting from 5 p.m. on 31 Dec., guests will be pampered with a cocktail party, continuing on to a special gala dinner with a varied buffet featuring remarkable entertainment from traditional dancers, fire dancers and other attractions until the new year countdown,” said Dina Indah, the hotel’s marketing communications officer.

New Year’s Eve at the InterContinental Bali Resort in Jimbaran promises to be a night to remember with an amazing array of events. From an extravagant party in the Puri Kencana ballroom to a seafood buffet carnival, featuring Asian flavors dinner, a gastronomic set dinner and Japanese delights — every need will be satisfied. “There will also be chill-out tunes at the Sunset Bar and a midnight countdown on the beach followed by a vibrant display of fireworks. We will ensure that guests of every nationality will be pampered during the festive season,” said Daniela Hartati, the resort’s assistant public relations manager.

This involves paying tribute to the New Year with a traditional Japanese dinner celebration at KO: An assortment of authentic foods known as Osechi will be served in unique boxes to be shared with friends and loved ones. The celebrations will draw to a close with an elaborate feast to observe Russian Christmas on Jan. 6. To celebrate the most wonderful time of the year, a special room package and a variety of dining pleasures are offered at the Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa. A New Year’s Eve dinner buffet with the theme A Feast of Archipelago will be on the hotel’s agenda for the last night of the year before the countdown party starts.

“Guests can enjoy a magnificent array of food from our buffet while being entertained with live music and Indonesian traditional dances. We will also provide a special corner for kids,” said Mashaning, the hotel’s marketing communications executive. They also have another choice to end this year with an indigenous seven-course Balinese set menu at the hotel’s Raja’s Balinese Cuisine before joining the countdown party featuring striking cabaret performances, fire dancers and stilt walkers.

Beachwalk shopping mall in Kuta will celebrate New Year’s Eve by presenting famous Indonesian musician Balawan alongside Batuan Ethnic Fusion, as well as holding a laser show. “The festivities will be centered around our fountain stage starting at 9 p.m. and going on until 2 a.m.,” said Beachwalk’s marketing communication executive Emiliana Ayundra Putri. For those interested in spending New Year’s Eve in a different way, the classic Balinese performing arts group Tetamian will present “Janger Peliatan Style” at Puri Agung Peliatan, Ubud
