Buleleng social agency has recorded 5,327
families still living in dingy homes. “As of the end of this year, the
Buleleng administration will only be able to build homes for 1,753
families of the total 7,080 low-income families in the regency,”
Buleleng social agency head Gede Komang said on Thursday. ”In 2010, we
could only support 251 families with new homes from our fund allocation
of Rp 6.40 billion [US$667,187].
Construction costs range between Rp 7
million and Rp 26 million per house,” said Gede. Under last year’s
budget allocation of Rp 10.5 billion, 681 families were provided with
new homes. This year, 821 families are targeted for receiving new homes
from the administration’s budget allocation of Rp 16 billion. By the end
of this year, a total of 1,753 families will have been supported via
three-year funding worth Rp 33.21 billion, he said. Despite the
available funds, budget constraints remained the main hurdle, he
claimed.
